Telecom is recruiting a Technician: Network Support, in Rundu and Mariental, Namibia.
Description
- The purpose of this position is to perform the technical tasks required to install and maintain various information and telecommunication network systems including corporate customers and to perform first-line maintenance on related passive infrastructure as well as to perform other related duties as required
- REPORTING TO: MANAGER: NETWORK OPERATIONS
- DIVISION: NETWORK OPERATIONS
- DUTY STATION: MARIENTAL (X1) & RUNDU (X1)
- GRADE: C3
Duties
- Install and maintain specified network control, access network and IT systems as well as related infrastructure as per work order following technical instructions
- Maintain specified passive network infrastructure and related components as per work order following technical instructions
- Report network discrepancy that requires attention
- Perform standby duties and overtime work as required
- Trouble shoot, diagnose and rectify faults as per work order following technical instructions
- Adherence to all relevant company policies
Requisites
- National Diploma in relevant discipline and a Engineering technician registration with at least 3 years practical experience in installations, maintenance and fault rectification on the relevant network control and access network systems and related infrastructure as well as on the relevant passive network infrastructure and components AND Minimum Code BE Driver’s Licence
- OR
- TE certificate and Grade 12 (and / or relevant industrial qualification) with 5 years relevant experience AND Minimum Code BE Driver’s Licence
- Key Knowledge Required:
- Very good knowledge of Telecommunication Core, Access and Transmission technologies
- Very good knowledge of tools and test equipment required to carry out work
- Very good knowledge of relevant network control and access network systems infrastructure
- Good knowledge of passive network infrastructure and components
- Good knowledge of TN specifications and standards incl. SHEQ
- Basic knowledge of PC networking and configuration
- Knowledge of computer literacy including office application
- Basic user knowledge of relevant business and application software used by TN
