Dundee Precious Metals is recruiting a Technical Buyer, to be based in Tsumeb, Namibia.
Duties
- Legal, Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance as well as promoting a safety culture, systems and design in the area of responsibility
- Leading by example through living the company purpose and values Research, evaluation and purchase services, supplies and equipment
- Coordinate Requests for Quotations (RFQ) process, including review and provide input into the RFQ documentation and specifications
- Floating RFQs on the Purchasing platform (Taranawa), evaluation of RFQ commercial offers and validation of technical evaluations
- Review and identify opportunities and provide input into contracting processes
- Completing specifications for warehouse materials and non-stock materials
- Provide technical justification and support for materials substitution or replacement
- Drive continuous improvement and cost savings through the RFQ processes
- Issue Purchase Orders (POs) for technical services and equipment
- Expedite purchase order deliveries and provide daily feedback to end users
- Focus on delivering key performance indicators
- Effective, proactive liaison with other departments as necessary to forecast and plan procurements
- Daily reporting on the status of Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders
Requisites
- A Grade 12 Certificate with 23 points
- A National Trade Certificate or equivalent in Boilermaking, Fitter or Fitting and Turning
- A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage
- A minimum of 12 years relevant post-trade test work experience of which, a minimum of 6 years should have been on supervisory level
- Must have worked on industrial conveyor belt systems in a plant or processing industry for a minimum of 3 years
- Applicants with more relevant work experience will be at an advantage
- Practicable skills, maintenance related experience in a heavy process, mining, or steel industry
- Copper Smelter experience will be an advantage
- Sound knowledge of conveyor belt systems, repair, installation, maintenance, and splicing
- Strong people management skills
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office packages, with strong Excel skills)
- Code B Driver’s License
