Swakop Uranium is recruiting a Superintendent: Production Geology, to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Duties
- To manage the production geological function in order to ensure the provision of an effective geological service to meet Swakop Uranium’s (SU) production requirement and objectives
 
- Key Performance Areas:
 
- Manage all aspects of production Geology including design, planning, supervision and implementation of surface and drill hole programmes, data management, maintenance of technical standards, permitting and community liaison
 
- Provide historical analysis of production performance data and trends and Geotechnical information required as inputs into the company’s strategic projects
 
- Continuously assess resources performance from a production perspective and advise on its potential economic impact on the business
 
- Coordinate the effective and timeous preparation of resource/reserve information required for the delivery of planned production targets
 
- Ensure that the Company meets all its governmental obligations, are legislatively compliant and that all environmental and exploration permits are in place and up-to-date
 
- Develop and execute and manage the annual sectional budget and make every decision to optimize the return on investment
 
- Ensure the resource and reserve database system is maintained and accurate information extracted to facilitate the modulation of the ore mining operation
 
- Analyse production indicators and implement action for improved productivity
 
- Monitor dilution and minimizes the adverse effects of dilution on grade
 
- Manage stockpile movements to ensure that control over resources is maintained
 
- Manage face/production sampling
 
Requisites
- BSc. Honours Degree in Geology or similar qualification in Geology
 
- A Master’s degree in Geology will be an added advantage
 
- 8 years’ experience as a Geologist with exposure to mine production and GIS systems of which 3 years should have been on supervisory level
 
- Experience in Geological & Resource modelling
 
- Experience in identifying and interpreting geological information, production results
 
- Proven experience in using various modelling software such as Data mine, GIS
 
- Experience in open pit mining is preferable
 
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License. (4x4 driving know how is an added advantage)
