Swakop Uranium is recruiting a Superintendent: Mining Technical, in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Duties
- To manage mining technical functions such as drilling, blasting, load and haul and contractors to ensure production, safety, quality and efficiency target are achieved
Key Performance Areas:
- Develop and implement detailed standard procedures to ensure efficient and safe drilling, blasting and load & haul operations
- Approve all drilling and blasting designs and plans in line with procedures and best practice.
- Manage the Drilling, Blasting, Load & Haul and Road Maintenance Contractor and associated activities in line with SLA and within statutory and procedural requirements
- Interpret and apply all relevant blasting statutory requirements, regulations and standards to blasting operations and associated activities
- Drive improvements in drilling, blasting and load & haul key performance drivers such as fragmentation, hauling and loading rates
- Develop models to predict fuel consumptions of key mining earth moving equipment
- Ensure mining traffic management plan is adequate and does not pose any safety risk or production constrains
- Ensure open pit dewatering systems and equipment are effective
- Ensure smooth operation of the Aggregate Crusher plant
Requisites
- BSc/B. Tech degree in Mining Engineering. NQF Level 7
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in open pit mining environment of which 3 years should be in Senior Engineer / supervisory capacity
- Experience in mine planning is an added advantage
- Contractor management and project management experience
- Open Pit Blasting Certificate
- Registration with Engineering Council of Namibia, will be an advantage
Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
