- An exciting opportunity exists for a Superintendent Fleet Management on a two (2) year fixed term contract in the Mining Asset Management department, reporting to the Manager Mining Asset Management. The successful incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining fleet strategies which includes the replacement strategy, the maintenance strategy and the operating, monitoring, and control plans, evaluate fleet options and undertake capital expenditure applications
Duties
- Responsible for departmental HSE performance
- Supervising and ensuring that subordinates complete their tasks according to set plans, defining clear priorities to ensure production continuity
- Planning and forecasting of mobile equipment requirements to support the business including analysis of fleet options, equipment selection, fleet strategies, fleet plans, capital plans, securing capital, and monitoring of fleet performance
- Formulating a vehicle turnover plan
- Responsible for all RUL busses, light, and heavy vehicle maintenance
- Providing input into the capital budgeting process to provide for the replacement of non-viable equipment and the provision for the expanded requirement
- Preparing procurement specifications to ensure fit for purpose equipment
- Managing the efficiency and sufficiency of the employee transport system ensuring planning and provision of resources as well as the transport centres off site
- Monitoring and reviewing processes and all materials used within all areas under the incumbent’s control
- Implementing improvements upon receipt of approval; and
- Monitoring the outcome of the process improvement
Requisites
- Grade 12 plus a recognized B Science/B Tech degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering (NQF level 7/8); OR
- A recognized 3 - year National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering (NQF Level 6)
- For a candidate with a bachelor’s degree: A minimum of 5 years cross functional engineering work experience on an Engineer or specialized
level of which 3 years should have been in a supervisory capacity
- For a candidate with a National Diploma: A minimum of 10 years’ cross functional engineering work experience on an Engineer (Technician) or on a Specialized level of which 5 years should have been in a supervisory capacity
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer will be an added advantage; and
- A valid code B/BE driver’s licence
- Required skills:
- Ability to lead a team and provide direction
- Technical knowledge of light and heavy vehicles and busses/heavy equipment maintenance systems
- Good computer skills especially Excel, Microsoft Office, MS Projects, and SAP
- Report Writing skills Analytical Skills
- Planning & Organizing Skills
