Rössing Uranium is recruiting a Specialist: Innovation and Engineering Technology, to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
  • A vacancy exists for Specialist Innovation and Engineering Technology within the Information System and Technology department
  • The primary function of the role is to manages the Engineering Technology team that includes the Process Control second line support (Honeywell) and the electronic team that supports access control, CCTV, vehicle tracking and monitoring as well as PIT Electronics systems (Mining Fleet Management System, Digital Radios, Grade Scanners and Geology technology)
  • The role will also fulfil a strategic partnership around innovation with the business areas to deliver continuous improvement and efficiency in availability of the technologies
Duties
  • Striving for Zero Harm
  • Investigating accidents / incidents and recommending corrective / remedial measures
  • Developing a highly capable team of people operating at their full potential
  • Supervising and ensuring that subordinates complete their tasks according to set plans, defines clear priorities to ensure uptime and availability of systems and services
  • Leading and providing strategic guidance to the team
  • Leading the monthly Service Level Engagement with the relevant service provider
  • Manage the work requests and execution of the Innovation and Engineering Technology Team
  • Scheduling and holding regular communication meetings with subordinates to discuss; agree and set performance targets
  • Ensuring that annual performance appraisals are carried out and gives fair recognition for staff contributions to organizational goals
  • Ensuring operating conditions that minimise consumable costs wherever possible
  • Staying up to date with Engineering Technology trends and improvements
Requisites
  • Grade 12 certificate
  • A recognized 4-year bachelor’s degree on (NQF Level 7/8) Bachelor’s Honours Degree in Mechanical or Electronic
  • Engineering or Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) or Information Technology
  • OR
  • A recognized 3-year Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) or Information Technology
  • Degree Holders: A minimum of five (5) years working experience in the mining system technologies with a focus on engineering technology and innovation of which minimum of three (3) years working experience should have been in a supervisory/leadership role
  • Diploma Holders: A minimum of ten (10) years working experience in the mining system technologies with a focus on engineering technology and innovation of which minimum of five (5) years working experience should have been in a supervisory/leadership role
  • Certification in ITIL and Enterprise Architecture will be added advantages
  • A valid Code B Driver’s License
  • A Police certificate of conduct not older than 6 months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates
  • Required competencies and skills:
  • Process Control systems such as Honeywell
  • Access Control and Vehicle tracking systems experience
  • Electronics systems (Mining Fleet Management System, Digital Radios, Grade Scanners and Geology technology)
  • Aptitude to manage complex Technology Systems
  • Experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with 4IR topics like IOT, Big Data, AI and Automation will be an advantage
  • Fore-sighting and Innovation Research
  • Technical report writing skills
  • Agile work ways experience will be an advantage
