Swakop Uranium is recruiting a Senior Officer: Wellness, to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
  • To develop, implement and coordinate a holistic employee wellness programme for Swakop Uranium (SU) in accordance with the National Health regulations and programmes
Duties
  • Research, develop, monitor and evaluate worksite wellness initiatives designed to promote a culture that improves the health, safety, and well-being of employees
  • Develop and implement educative and training interventions
  • Make recommendations and review referred disability cases as per the medical incapacity process
  • Provide Psychosocial Support to employees through counselling and make relevant referrals to external service providers
  • Monitor and evaluate existing programs and make recommendations for best practices
  • Prepare and submit Health and Wellness reports to relevant Authorities when required
  • Analyze medical reports and recommend corrective action
  • Recommend and coordinate awareness, wellness, and health training sessions
  • Liaise with relevant committees and stakeholders to ensure sharing of updated and reliable IEC material
  • Recommend and oversee implementation of programmes to be tailor made to fit company needs
  • Develop and implement the Company’s HIV / AIDS Strategic Response programme
  • Follow disciplinary action outcomes of Alcohol and Drug cases for supportive services and advise accordingly
  • Coordinate needs assessment studies to identify risk groups and areas to implement effective response programmes
  • Lead and co-ordinate the work of the Peer Educators to accomplish designated objectives
Requisites
  • Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology /and or a formal qualification as a Primary Health Care Nurse
  • Certificate in Counselling & Certificate in HIV/AIDS management will be an added advantage
  • 5 years’ experience in Employee Wellness
  • Experience in health education and promotion planning and evaluation, and delivering healthcare information, activities, programs and services will be an added advantage
  • Experience in a mining environment will be an added advantage
  • Registration with the Health Professionals Council of Namibia
  • Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
