Nampower is recruiting a Senior Occupational Health Nurse, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The incumbent will be responsible for primary and occupational health care; curative and emergency treatment; dispensing of medicines; coordinates the health program and related administrative duties
Duties
- Manages the Van Eck/Brakwater Clinic, which caters for the NamPower employees and their dependents
- Plans and schedules the periodic/annual medical examinations for the Van Eck/Brakwater employees as well as all other NamPower district stations in the Central and Southern Region
- Dispenses medicine up to Schedule 3 in terms of Section 31 (1) of the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act 2003, records all medicines/medical materials issued to patients and submits invoices to medical aid funds
- Conducts initial screening and evaluations and forwards the information to the company appointed medical doctor for processing as appropriate
- Develops, aligns, implements, and reviews health policies/ procedures and strategies
- Supports and promotes all wellness related programs throughout the organization
- Treats and processes injury on duty cases as well as occupational diseases
- Maintains up to date records relating to the medical status of each employee
- Deals with emergency cases by applying first aid and/or operating life support equipment and escorts the patient to the hospital or arranges an escort, where necessary
- Provides curative services and counseling to sick patients and liaises closely with contracted Occupational Medical Practitioners as appropriate
- Records all injury on duty cases on SAP and compiles month end reports on all medical activities, sick leave statistics, first aid training as well as identified trends
- Provides awareness on health-related topics
- Advises doctors on patients’ conditions and implements instructions regarding treatment prescribed
- Relieves the Ruacana Station Clinic Nurse as and when required
- Performs all other duties related to and flowing from the above as may be identified by his/her supervisor
Requisites
- A Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery Science (NQF Level 7)
- Registration with HPCNA as a Professional Registered Nurse
- Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing
- Valid Spirometry Certificate
- Valid Audiometry Certificate
- Qualification in Pharmacotherapy, Diagnosing and Treatment of Patients
- Valid Vision Screening Certificate
- Emergency Care Practitioner-Basic Certification as an added advantage
- A valid Driver’s License
- Five (5) years nursing experience in Occupational Health with one (1) year of dispensing experience
- Working knowledge in SAP will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of the Electrical Supply Industry environment will be an advantage
