DBN is recruiting a Senior Manager: Strategic Investments, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The Senior Manager: Strategic Investments is responsible for strategically driving the Bank’s mandate by identifying business opportunities, originating significant transactions, business development, executing equity investments, project preparation deals, and complex debt projects, while managing the Project Preparation Fund and the equity investment portfolio
- The role supports the Chief Investment Officer in managing the portfolio and contributing to the equity investment strategy
- It also ensures proper due diligence is followed in assessing investments, project deals, and syndicated transactions
Duties
- Operational Management:
- Develop and implement strategic approaches to attract targeted and high-value debt and equity investments
- Review and implement the Equity Investment Framework for the Bank
- Analyse, review, and recommend equity investments, structured debt loans, and syndicated loans for approval, following the Management Charter and required credit approval levels
- Identify and propose the parameters of control for each specific equity investment and determine the performance requirements of the investment project in terms of the Framework
- Develop and enhance processes for the execution, monitoring, and evaluation of debt and equity transactions to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- Prepare investment memoranda, project proposals, and submissions for decision-making entities within the Bank to review and execute specific transactions
- Review board meeting discussions on the Equity Investment portfolio, perform financial scenario planning and sensitivity analysis, and discuss findings for further action
- Collaborate with a multi-sector team to create and execute high-quality project proposals, from concept, design, preparation, due diligence, feasibility, and implementation. Proactively address challenges and coordinate external contributions to ensure successful project delivery
- People Management:
- Lead and coach direct reports, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Set performance standards/ key performance indicators for the team and track daily and/or accordance with the annual performance reviews
Requisites
- Qualifications & Experience:
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) Engineering, Law, Accounting or Commerce with a postgraduate qualification in Corporate Finance, Investment management or Development Finance
- Exposure to dealing with project finance transactions is an added advantage
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a corporate finance or project environment, relevant exposure to management and financial modelling, of which 2 years in a senior leadership role
