Senior Management Accountant

Description

• To develop, manage and optimize the management & control of costs, financial information & analysis for decision making and the sourcing and usage of funds within the NSA
• To enable the optimal management of services from the NSA through effective resourcing and resource analysis in the context of overall NSA financial effectiveness through appropriate information, advice and support that will enable superior financial decision-making
• To enable the accurate assessment of financial productivity of the NSA through appropriate cost/benefit modelling and analysis
• To optimize the application of and return on funds obtained and applied in the NSA

Duties

• To focus on & manage management & cost accounting resources and processes towards the continuous improvement of efficiency of the division
• To direct, drive & manage the continuous improvement of service quality within the division
• To develop, implement & control an effective management & cost accounting and related control & cost/financial optimization system that enables optimal financial management throughout NSA
• To develop and provide appropriate financial management & cost reports that assist monitoring, control & decision making within NSA from a management & cost accounting perspective – to make inputs into the annual report in liaison with external audit & colleagues
• To develop the operational budgeting and cost control processes and implement and administer these against agreed standards and criteria
• To ensure a sustaining capacity as well as motivation of staff within the division to deal with work requirements effectively
• To take part in the forums and meetings required for integration and problem solving at Organisational level as well as the administrative management of the function in line with requirements

Requisites

• B Com or equivalent (accounting as major) with articles
• Honours will be added advantage
• 5 years’ experience after qualifying, with at least 2 years in independent accounting roles, with an emphasis on management and cost accounting functions
• Competencies:
• Proven track record of coverage of the management and cost accounting functions within a professional organization
• Quick grasp of concepts and theoretical level technical requirements
• Sound practical applications ability
• Slightly perfectionist in dealing with accounting & financial analytical requirements
• Demonstrated skills in internal management and cost accounting service provision
• Good technical communication skills
• Sound understanding of management and cost accounting analysis
• Sound understanding of management and cost accounting systems and MIS
• Sound understanding of management and cost accounting controls and risk
• Good financial analyst and problem solver
