Senior Internal Auditor (Supervisory and Managerial)

• Debmarine Namibia’s Internal Audit Department requires a Senior Internal Auditor
• He/she will manage, coordinate and perform audit assignments by providing independent, objective assurance and advice to our Clients’ (i.e. Namdeb Holdings, Namdeb, Debmarine Namibia, Namibia Diamond Trading Company) Management and Boards of Directors

Duties

• Audits Assignment Planning:
• Plan, resource, schedule and manage delivery of audit assignments, including internal audits, due diligence reviews, forensic investigations, advisory services, etc., to ensure assignments are delivered on time, to agreed standards and in accordance with Client`s requirements
• Executes audit assignments with minimal supervision, including amongst others:
• Collect, analyse and interpret data to draw conclusions on the activity under review
• Produce and maintain adequate audit working papers at the appropriate standards
• Audits Assignment Close:
• Draft high quality audit reports, including making recommendations and formulating an audit opinion
• Discuss audit findings and recommendations with management and agree a plan of action
• Perform quality reviews and/or supervision of internal audits conducted by team members
• Comply with the prescribed Internal Audit Methodology
• Perform ad-hoc tasks, for example budgeting, information technology systems champion, special projects, action item management, etc., as and when needed

Requisites

• Education and Experience:
• Internal Audit Honours/B-Tech Degree or equivalent (NQF 7) essential
• Relevant professional qualification, e.g. Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, etc., preferred
• OR
• Internal Audit Honours/B-Tech Degree or equivalent (NQF 7) preferred
• Relevant professional qualification, e.g. Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, etc., essential
• Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience in internal auditing (including 2 years supervisory/managerial experience)
• Strong specialist skills in the following audit areas: IT, operations, projects, mineral resources, forensics, data analytics, etc
• Knowledge of the mining industry (geology, mining and plants, metallurgy, etc.) is an advantage
• Competencies:

• Experience in auditing approaches and methodologies essential
• Proficient understanding and experience of controls, governance and risk management principles essential
• Strong analytical and interpretation skills
• Leadership and supervision skills
• Interpersonal, incl. liaison with senior management, team player and conflict management skills
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a high pressure environment
• Maintain high ethical standards both personally and professionally
• Ability to travel frequently to Oranjemund, our mining vessels, and other locations
