NAMFISA is recruiting a Senior Financial Analyst (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The purpose of this job is to:
- Evaluate and review new applications for registration, including
AML/FAP assessments, deregistration, name change/name
reservations/transfer of shareholding, registration of Principal
Officers (PO’s), auditors and valuators, certification of good
standing, review of constitutional documents, etc. from regulated
entities for all industries
- Conduct application assessment reviews and make relevant
recommendations
- Evaluate and review adherence of regulated entities to current
legislation, regulations procedures and policies
Duties
- Review new applications for registration and determine course of
action (recommendation to Manager/General Manager)
- Review submission for voluntary and NAMIFISA-initiated deregistrations and determine course of action (recommendation to Manager/General Manager)
- Liaise with relevant divisions and other internal stakeholders on
matters relating to Change of shareholding/amalgamations, Change of Key Responsible Persons, additional microlending branch(es), additional Capital Injection, Good Standing, Section 14 Transfers, etc.;
- Provide input to research on challenges/issues faced by industry
players or by division and make recommendations to Manager for
policy review that may lead to amendments to legislation
- Draft amendments to legislation, i.e. Directives, Circulars, Regulations, Standards, for review by Manager
- Provide support to Legal Advisor on new application forms/requirements, training on relevant laws and crafting of new
application forms as may be required
- Prepare statistical data for Annual Report, Financial Stability
- Report, Quarterly Statistical Bulletin and Consumer Education
articles, Regulatory Forum Report, Board Report, etc. for review by
Manager
- Draft Public Notices/Cautionary Notices for review by Manager/General Manager
- Attend and participate at industry, departmental and divisional meetings
- Ensure that the assessment and analysis of all applications are done correctly on the Electronic Regulatory System (ERS) and corresponding hard copy submission
- Management of subordinates in accordance with NAMFISA’s
relevant policies and procedures, and ensure adherence to operational procedures
Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Economics / Finance
- Five (5) years’ related experience (finance, consulting or
administration, compliance management, risk management,
auditing)
- Knowledge of NAMFISA’s vision, mission and objectives
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
- Up-to-date with industry trends and legislative environment
- Understanding and interpretation of laws
Business knowledge and understanding of Insurance, Pensions,
- Medical Aid Funds, Microlending and Capital Markets institutions’
registration requirements
