Swakop Uranium is recruiting a Senior Engineer: Maintenance, to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
- To provide a specialist Engineering function in the attainment of reliable equipment and machinery to ensure that production targets are achieved, at maximum availability and optimum cost, including adherence to SSHERQ procedures and standards
Duties
- Develop, recommend and implement strategies for improving equipment and process reliability
- Lead the formulation, planning and implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Reliability Centered Spares (RCS) philosophies and techniques on the mine to achieve Swakop Uranium’s (SU) Asset Management Strategy
- Co-ordinate the application of RCM/RCS to minimize costly equipment failure and downtime through precision monitoring of operations
- Monitor and quantify reliability cost savings, increased production and/or equipment life cycle costs
- Acquire and utilize data to identify and analyze deviations, delays and losses for improvement opportunities
- Plan and execute reliability projects on the mine, inclusive of contractor management
- Investigate and resolve user problems, initiate system corrections, monitor and expedite system changes-in-progress and test corrections and enhancements
- Maintain the integrity of the reliability centered maintenance and reliability centered spares management system data and report functions by developing and implementing technical standards, specifications and quality systems
- Develop, investigate and implement enhancements to the reliability centered maintenance and reliability centered spares system by assessing the benefits of latest trends and developments and making recommendations
- Develop and implement audit programs to assess the effectiveness of reliability centered maintenance and reliability centered spares philosophies and techniques
- Utilize RCM/RCS analysis effectively in the implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance tasks in order to determine service periods with minimum production interruption
- Ensure that a common system of RCM key performance indicators to meet internal / off-mine reporting requirements, is implemented and adhered to and correct deviations
- Manage risks in the areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality and production, using various tools in identifying and reducing risk, in order to achieve the Company’s strategic objectives
Requisites
- Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects
- B.Sc, B. Eng or BTech Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
- 5 years’ experience in a Maintenance / Project environment of which 2 years should have been in a Senior capacity
- Experience in Project management (Feasibility study, Planning phase and risk management, implementation phase, cost control as forecasting, sustainability)
- Experience in managing structural integrity of the Mining equipment as per legal requirement
- Exposure in process optimization and improvement of equipment reliability
- Understand risk management processes
- Sound experience in quality management principles and processes
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
