Dundee Precious Metals is recruiting a Project Engineer: Mechanical, to be based in Tsumeb, Namibia.
Duties
  • The Project Engineer: Mechanical manages allocated projects. This position is the execution center for each allocated project using either in-house or mostly contracted resources. Projects may range from small operational projects to larger capital projects
  • Each Project Engineer typically manages several projects but in exceptional circumstances only one project. This requires both design and execution capabilities. Two Project Engineers are required, one position is permanent, and another position is on fixed-term contract for 24-months on a D-lower level of Patterson grading system
  • The Project Engineer: Mechanical will report to the Senior Project Engineer: Project Management Office (PMO) and be accountable for:
  • ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Ensure compliance with legal, health and safety and environmental standards and requirements in the area of responsibility and provide safety leadership and the promotion of a safety culture
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with the policies and rules of the company and lead by example by living the company’s values and purpose; ensuring that projects are executed professionally and expeditiously with laser focus on project delivery and the timeous realization of the benefits for which the specific project was conceived in the areas of safety, health, environmental, production, cost reduction or other business objectives
  • Continue to enhance the PMO as a centre of project management excellence and the custodian of project management best practices at DPM Tsumeb and support all project managers across the organization, fully cognizant that the Project Management System is but one system in an ecosystem of systems
  • The development of human potential, collaborating and working with colleagues (teamwork) and stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the company
Requisites
  • A recognized bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent to NQF level 8
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the appropriate discipline with the Engineering Council of Namibia.
  • Candidates with more relevant experience may have an added advantage
  • A minimum of 7 years relevant post-graduate engineering projects work experience is required and experience in the mining and ore processing industry or other heavy industry will be an advantage
  • A minimum of 5 years project management experience is required, and project management accreditation will be an advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and the relevant discipline CAD, planning and estimating software
  • In-depth knowledge of the engineering and construction specifications, standards, and codes for the relevant discipline
  • Cost and budget management systems, safety health and environmental management systems, procurement and inventory management systems, human resources management systems, etc.
  • Code B Driver’s Licence
  • Microsoft Office 360 suite
