CENORED is recruiting a Project Engineer, to be based in Otjiwarongo, Namibia.
Description
- The Project Engineer will report directly to the Manager: Engineering & Planning, assuming responsibility for technical, project management, planning, design, and engineering activities within the Network Engineering and Expansion department's Engineering & Planning section
- GRADE: D1
Duties
- Financial Management: Ensure strict control over project budgets and expenditures, monitor OPEX, and contribute to budgeting processes
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and service providers to ensure smooth project execution from planning to completion
- Project Planning and Execution: Conduct feasibility studies, design MV/LV distribution networks, manage project documentation, estimate costs, and ensure compliance with standards and regulations
- Asset and Technical Management: Maintain accurate records of assets, update technical registers, and coordinate with stakeholders on infrastructure plans
- Technical Standards and Compliance: Develop equipment specifications, enforce standards during project implementation, and oversee testing and commissioning activities
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure adherence to HSE regulations, implement safety protocols, and participate in HSE meetings.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and review project reports, update drawings, and respond to stakeholder inquiries promptly and accurately
- Learning and Development: Stay updated with industry practices, participate in training programs, and contribute to research on innovative solutions
- Performance Management: Manage personal performance goals, provide on-the-job training, and collaborate closely with supervisors for achieving project deliverables
Requisites
- Minimum Qualifications:
- B. Sc, B-Tech or B Eng In Electrical Engineering (Power) or equivalent as recognised by the Namibian Qualification Authority
- NQF level 7
- Preferred Qualification:
- B. Sc/B-tech Degree, with a certificate in project management
- Specific Knowledge:
- Design techniques, tools and principles
- Knowledge of DigSilent power factory
- Comprehensive understanding of Renewable energy systems
- Knowledge of CAD and GIS systems
- Knowledge of the NESC CENORED systems, policies & procedures
- Practical application of engineering & technology
- Project management practices
- Customer categories & requirements
- MV/LV electrical network design and layout
- OH Lines, hardware & construction types
- NESC
- Quality of Supply & Service Standards
- Microsoft Office & general computer literacy
- Specific Skills:
- Design techniques, tools and principles
- Precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
- Apply NESC procedures up to 44KV
- Communication
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) system
- Microsoft Suite – complete
- Administration & document control
- Supervise & control work of others
- Knowledge of the PMBOK or similar
- Professional Registration:
- Professional Registration (Pr Eng/ Inc. Eng) with Engineering council of Namibia
- Experience:
- 5 years professional experience
- 2 years in in electrical engineering (MV/LV)
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Licenses Required:
- Code B Driver License
- Special Working Conditions
- Generally, office bound, but be able to verify system configuration in the field
