Project Accountant

Description

• Windhoek Consulting Engineers (PTY) Ltd is looking for an experienced Financial & Project Accountant to join our dynamic team
• This role will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of our projects, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making

Duties

• Financial Management and Reporting:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
• Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits
• Project Accounting:
• Oversee the financial aspects of project management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring
• Track and report on project costs, revenues, and profitability
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate and timely billing and revenue recognition
• Analyze project financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Compliance and Control:
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS)
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls
• Monitor compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Strategic Planning and Analysis:
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making
• Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate the financial impact of business decisions
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
• Team Leadership and Development:
• Supervise and mentor other finance staff
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
• Provide training and support to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge

Requisites

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, NIPA) is preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial and project accounting, preferably within the engineering or consulting industry
• Strong understanding of IFRS
• Proficiency in financial and managerial accounting principles and practices​
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
