Ohorongo Cement is recruiting a Production Engineer / Graduate Production Engineer, to be based in Plant Sargberg, between Otavi and Tsumeb, Namibia.
Description
- Reporting to the Divisional Production Manager, this person is involved in the daily operation, and projects spread over the entire production department
- He/she closely cooperates with the Divisional Production Manager but must also coordinate representatives from all other departments to manage projects
Duties
- Control and analyze process data from the SCADA system going to the data management system. Present data analysis to communicate findings
- Manage optimization projects throughout the entire plant and coordinate the involved staff to secure the technical and financial success of the project as well as the completion within the set time limits
- Monitor the quality parameters within the process and propose adjustments to improve the production process and maintain product quality
- Develop an understanding of the quality measurement systems used on site and assist with troubleshooting when quality parameters are out of range
- Identify possibilities to increase plant efficiency, prepare reports, obtain approval, and implement projects
- Identify areas for potential process or operational improvements, or cost reduction, and work towards implementing these changes
- Revise and regularly update production related quality management documents
- Conduct stockpile management and balances for alternative fuels and raw materials fed to the system, as well cement stock balances
- Develop and maintain procedures and training material in the production department to achieve best performance and safe operations
- Assist in planning and supervision of refractory works considering continuous evaluation of currently used materials and techniques to ensure best practice
- Conduct routine process health checks and monitoring and report any concerns, along with recommendations to address these concerns
- Assist with training production personnel in the field and the control room
- Ensure constant compliance with all relevant laws and regulations e.g. with regards to human rights, Labour Act, Health & Safety Regulations, etc
Requisites
- Degree in Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering OR must be in the final year of studies for such a degree (statement of results will be required)
- Excellent data analysis and digital fluency
- Very strict approach to safety at work
- Basic understanding of project finance
- Project management skills
- Good understanding of process control principles and systems
- Disciplined and accurate work methods
- At least 2 years work experience in an industrial or mining operation would be advantageous but is not a strict requirement
- Familiarity with integrated management systems for ISO 9001 and 14001 compliances would be an advantage
