Ohorongo Cement is recruiting a Plant Manager, to be based in Tsumeb, Namibia.
Description
- Reporting to the Managing Director, based on the objectives given by the Managing Director, the Plant Manager is to develop and maintain plant performance standards and develop the value of the plant “assets”
Duties
- Manage and regularly review the Health and Safety Management System of the Company. Ensure adequate communication and administrative processes are in place
- Continuously encourage and guide health and safety focus and performance of own team
- Ensure legal compliances as required by the Health and Safety Regulations, Mining Act or Ordinance
- Develop and routinely review Company
- Policies and Rules related to Health and Safety of Employees, Contractors, and Visitors
- Ensure that production activities are performed in such a way as to have minimal impact on the natural environment
- Monitor, control and report emissions to atmosphere, ground and water as required
- Determine the objectives and targets for the Plant and plan the resources and tasks accordingly to achieve the overall objectives and KPIs of the Company
- Coordinate the activities of the different departments including HSE, Quality Assurance, Production, Maintenance and Projects, to achieve the overall objectives of the Cement Plant
- Guide and review monthly and annual production and maintenance plans
- Review plant and cost center budgets and manager operational input costs
- Define plant equipment investment needs, budgets and ensure execution of related projects
- Guide the Project Engineer in project priorities and resource allocation
- Continuous monitor, control and encourage optimization of key Plant cost drivers and efficiencies including cost of raw materials, fuels, alternative fuel rate, electricity consumption and cost, spare parts, overtime, etc
- Execute Company strategy as communicated by the Managing Director or Board of Directors, where it is relevant for the Plant
- Review individual performance, provide guidance, and take steps to improve performance as needed
- With the support of the HR Department, be available for employee matters and concerns
- Assist and guide teams to establish a positive working environment and team culture
Requisites
- Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical or Process Engineering, with at least 10 years of experience in the cement production industry
- Must have a strong and experience background in Senior Management including Technical, Process and Project management understanding
- Sufficient understanding of technical problems to decide on appropriate action in line with Policy and industrial strategy in Process, Production and/or Maintenance, Product Quality, Environmental Management, Project Management and Human Resources Management
- Good knowledge and proven professional experience in strategic planning and financial management
- Inter-cultural intelligence
- Fluency in Business English is a prerequisite
- Must have a Code B driving license
