Namib Mills is recruiting a Miller, to be based in Katima Mulilo, Namibia.
Description
- Ensure efficient and most economical milling of maize to ensure achievement of production goals and conformance to quality requirements
Duties
- Maintains efficient production levels:
- Ensure the proper functioning of all milling equipment and maintenance thereof
- Do minor repairs and report major repairs to the Production Manager
- Maintain and adjust mill settings continuously to ensure proper mill balance and ensure product conformity to quality requirements
- Ensure process controls on precautionary measures in case of any irregularities
- Plan production according to orders and model stock levels
- Ensure the availability of the correct amounts of raw materials to complete orders timeously
- Practice / plan frequent maintenance of all production equipment to ensure availability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness thereof
- Being responsible for receiving and grading of Maize
- Being responsible for fumigation as required and when necessary
- Quality Assertiveness:
- The miller will be responsible for proper process control to ensure conformance to product quality requirements
- To study and record test results, to ensure conformance to quality standards or in the absence thereof, to institute timeous corrective action and preventative measures
- Always maintain proper housekeeping standards ensuring the cleanest possible conditions in the workplace and conformance to quality requirements
- Strive to improve on existing procedures / tasks to ensure conformance to quality requirements and cost effectiveness
- Administration:
- Being responsible for physical stock control
- Compile shift reports
- Record any difference on production report
- Record quality test results on shift report
- As well as compile quality reports for the QC Manager
- Provide accurate and timeous reporting to the Production Manager on all aspects regarding the milling process and other
- Manage the entire premisses
- Do daily and monthly stock counts
- Reporting daily to Windhoek
- Personnel:
- Create and maintain a culture of awareness for productivity, prevention of waste material and strive for quality output by means of training and motivating staff
- Compile leave rotation programs for the staff and manage adherence thereto. Control unauthorized absenteeism in the workplace
- Do any other ad-hoc tasks given by the Production Manager and provide feedback
- Co-ordinate protective clothing and equipment
- Monitor and control prosper completion and timeous availability of TIME Q
- Control and manage overtime
- Maintain discipline at the workplace by conducting grievance / disciplinary hearings
- Manage junior staff on a day-to-day basis
Requisites
- Grade 12 with Relevant Degree or Diploma
- SAGMA qualification, Qualified Maize Miller, Practical and Theoretical
- Maize grading qualification
- Fumigation Certificate
- Eight (5 – 8) Years Milling experience
- Other:
- Proficient in English
- Exposure in a technical environment will be an added advantage
- Must be able to work shifts, weekends, overtime and on public holidays when required
