Sanlam is recruiting a Junior Actuarial Assistant, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The focus of the position is to efficiently and accurately manage risk by analyzing medical and financial information
Duties
- Underwrite risk benefits within company’s underwriting terms
- Analyse medical information, request additional medical reports, analyse financial income data where necessary, and fully assess conditions to determine acceptability of risk
- Keeping detailed records of policies underwritten and decisions made
- Efficiently and accurately underwrites claims
- Liaise with brokers, advisers and reinsurance
- Determine the risk involved in insuring a client
- Screen applicants based on set criteria
- Effective client Service to stakeholders
- Accurate and timely investigations and feedback to intermediary and stakeholder queries
- Professional and well-structured communication of requirements and follow ups
- Keeping within SLA’s to render good service to our advisors / agents / brokers and other internal customers
- Professional and complete feedback communication per e-mail or telephonically
- Ensure high level of productivity within office hours
- Finalise enquiries correctly and ensure that information given to client is technically correct
- Effective administration of baskets, google documents and requirements
- Sending of contracts to clients and portfolio slip when required
- Administration of requirements for new business and underwriting
- Risk identification in all processes of onboarding and amendments on policies
- Identification of problems and logging thereof to the systems support team internal/external that they are not able to fix
- Verification of data captured versus documentation submitted
- Report any discrepancies picked up to management and the compliance department
- Auxiliary duties as required by Management
Requisites
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in biology and/or Physics and/or Mathematics
- Minimum 3 years working experience in an administrative capacity in the life insurance industry
- Underwriting experience of at least 3 years or experience in the medical field will be an advantage
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (Afrikaans and English
- Intermediate administration, recording keeping and data management
- Computer literacy (knowledge of the TE system would be an added advantage)
- Attention to detail, accurate and organised

- Work under pressure and with a sense of urgency
