Description
Debmarine Namibia requires the services the primary function of the Marine Assistant is to provide administrative support to the Marine Section so that all marine regulatory, legislative operational requirements are met
Duties
- Performs administrative duties to ensure compliance with the Merchant Shipping Act by:
- Communicating and following up with the Ministry of Works and Transport – Directorate of Maritime Affairs (DMA) on legal documents and when required
- Engaging with Classification Societies (ABS and LR) to assist in carrying out Statutory and Class surveys/audits as and when required
- Recording and monitoring actions from Class Surveys and audit findings on Isometrix
- Performs dusties required for the process of applications of Work Visas and Restricted Area Permits for contractors and / or service providers to ensure service delivery, by:
- Maintaining database and office files with relevant information such as expiry dates
- Monitoring visa application processes and informing all visa applicants (contractors) of the staturs of Visa and RAP applications
- Creates purchase requisistions to support payment process and correct cost allocation through out the year
- Matches invoices with orders and ensure proper authorisation and payment for all activities related to role such as traport, accommodation, flights, etc to ensure accurate payment
- Coordinates, facilitates and process Restricted Area Permit applications and work visas for contractors
- Acts as a liaising support for Marine Section contractors when required to carry out tasks onboard the vessels, ensures that itineraries are provided to logistics office in Oranjemund for planning
Requisites
- Grade 12
- Certificate in Administration will be advantageous
- 3 years appropriate experience in marine environment
- Experience in working with SAP, MS Office and administration software
- Experience in general administration / secretarial duties
