NSA is recruiting a Manager: Price Statistics, in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- To plan, develop, refine, and manage Price Statistics division as an integrated and key service provider to Government and other users. To optimise the provision of price and related statistics to guide customers in their decision making
- To establish the operational requirements and scope, professional depth, and integrity of statistical methods and models as it applies to sampling, work/ data capturing, processing, and subsequent outputs. To ensure alignment of the functionalities of this division with international best practices in applied statistics and related services

- Reporting to: Executive: Economic Statistics
Duties
- Develop prices statistical methods, models and practices
- Responsible for prices and trade statistics plan and implementation
- Effectively maintain prices statistics customer/ external stakeholder relationships
- Prices operational efficiencies
- Prices statistical systems efficiencies
- Prices statistics financial efficiencies
- Maintain price statistics market and image
- Undertakes prices statistical projects
- Manage staff human resources capacity
Requisites
- An Honours degree majoring in statistics, economics and or mathematics. A master’s level qualification would be an advantage
- Minimum of 8 years work experience with at least 3 years in senior professional/ managerial role within a statistical environment
- Specific competencies:
- Sound knowledge of statistical methods, techniques, and applications
- Conversant with Statistics package in the production of macro- and micro-economic indicators
- Knowledge of international Standard and best practices in prices and related statistics
- Familiarity with challenges and complexities of Statistics in general with emphasis on price statistics
- Experience in the development and refinement of statistical approaches and methods within the context of statistical systems
- Managerial and leadership skills
