DBN is recruiting a Manager: IT Infrastructure, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Reporting to the Head: IT and Digitalization, the Manager: IT infrastructure is responsible to ensure the effective and efficient planning, maintenance, administration and management of the IT Systems, database and network infrastructure within the Bank, providing second line support to all departments and monitoring the IT Hardware, software and networking tools to meet the Bank’s current and future needs
Duties
- Strategic Management:
- Plan and develop business unit objectives
- Provide input and recommendations to the development and review process of the DBN IT related policies, procedures and processes
- Implement and maintain a complete Disaster Recovery and BCM site, according to the Bank’s standards, and test relevant DR / BCM controls and functions
- Operational Management:
- Design, plan, implement and maintain the information technology infrastructure and network to meet the needs of the organization
- Design, plan, improve and maintain the Bank’s Local Area Network (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Wireless Network
- Compile and maintain technical documentation and manuals. Compile mon thly reports on the system’s uptime and incidents
- Conduct security audits and assessments to identify weaknesses in the IT Systems and recommend solutions, including monitoring and assessing cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities and implement appropriate countermeasures
- Monitor and control the security of the database by auditing user activity, monitoring for potential security threats and establishing and maintaining an effective backup, testing and recovery plan strategy
- Assist with the determination of the IT needs, proactively plan procurement activities, and initiate the procurements activities
- Monitor Service Level Agreements with suppliers of equipment and support services and evaluate and manage their performance based on the terms and conditions outlined in the contract
- Manage and mitigate risks as per approved recommendations and create a risk consciousness within the business unit
- Identify aspects of risk within ICT services and systems that require a defined approach or policy, specific procedures and controls to ensure that they are properly and optimally used, applied and maintained
- Implement, manage and monitor all IT Infrastructure projects and technology updates for delivery on time and according to project specifications, maintaining stakeholder relationships, staying within budget and ensuring application of project activity as required by the Bank
- Plan, monitor and implement effective and proper key ITIL disciplines, Help Desk functions, Incident & Problem Management, Change and SLA Management, including Capacity / Availability (DR) Management
- Financial Management:
- Provide input and develop budgets for business unit with other managers and Head: IT &Digitalization during annual work plan meeting
- Monitor and control business unit budget spending, reviewing budget versus actuals and report as per requirement
- People Management:
- Review business unit functions and requirements in relation to the staff complement, structure and workload and assist with the recruitment and selection of staff
- Implement a performance management process to evaluate employees’ performance and taking corrective action where necessary
- Implement and continuously manage employee development
- Effectively manage staff to ensure a high level of productivity, professionalism and work ethics
Requisites
- Education, Experience and Skills:
- A four-year Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 8) in Computer Science or Information Technology in Systems Administration & Networks
- At least 5 - 7 years’ experience as an IT Engineer or Systems/Network Administrator, of which 2 years should be at supervisory / management level
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Exceptional customer orientation or focus
- Well-developed interpersonal sensitivity and teamwork orientation
- Attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
