CRAN is recruiting a Manager: Financial Accounting (m/f), in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The Manager: Financial Accounting is responsible for: reviewing and analyzing financial transactions for financial reporting purposes, managing the budgeting process, implement control measures, and prepare Financial Statements and reports in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, finance regulations, policies, and procedures. The Manager is also responsible for recommending and implementing debt management operation standards and control procedures as well as alignment of asset management systems, resources and work processes with asset management and investment objectives. The position also manages assigned resources and personnel ensuring compliance respective policies, procedures, and regulations
Duties
Financial Accounting
- Reviews monthly trial balance to ensure accurate and timely financial information according to relevant financial policies and procedures
- Coordinates and timeously prepare all regularly required statements and reports to enable accurate measurements of cash flow
- Reviews month-end bank and credit card reconciliation to ensure correctness and accuracy according to required standards
- Reviews the amortization schedules for leased assets and the monthly journals of leased assets, liabilities, and finance charges
- Reviews and verify reconciliations done by Financial/Revenue Accountants
- Monitors and ensure that statutory deductions are paid to the relevant authorities by the stated due dates
- Reviews the amortization schedule for loans receivable and monthly payment journal for accuracy
- Executes the licensing regulations, revenue, and credit management policy to ensure accurate billing of customers/operators (levies, numbering, and spectrum) on a monthly and annual basis
- Monitors and ensure annual Spectrum, and Numbering runs are done timeously and accurately
- Report on monthly basis differences between the systems regarding integration, ASMS and SageX3 and make improvement recommendations
- Debtors’ Management
- Manages internal debt collection for long outstanding debts within set timeframes
- Reviews and confirm handover of long outstanding debtors to debt collectors
- Reviews weekly account write offs and corrections for approval by the Supervisor in line with the Delegation of Authority
- Reviews monthly debtors age report and advice on proposed actions for long outstanding debtors and credit balances
- Reviews selection for collection and advice on long outstanding debtors
- Setting out monthly targets for the collection of current and long outstanding debt
Annual Financial Statements and Audit
- Manages processes and produce final Trail Balance for the compilation of the Annual Financial Statements, ensuring adherence to IFRS
- Reviews on monthly basis provisions (leave, bonuses and severance) prepared by relevant departments to ascertain correctness
- Acts as main contact with external auditors and provides all financial information;
- Supervises external audit programs
- Facilitates and manage the audit process with the external and internal auditors
- Prepares annual financial statements on CaseWare in line with IFRS for external auditors’ review
Annual Budget and Financial Controls, Asset Register and Systems Management
- Provides input into the compilation of the annual budget
- Designs and recommends changes necessary to improve financial performance and controls
- Recommends for approval necessary financial controls
- Monitors and ensures effectiveness of necessary financial controls in line with statutory requirements
- Monitors and reviews periodic depreciation calculations
- Reviews the fixed asset register and assets on the General Ledger (additions/disposals) and advise on differences
Treasury and Investments
- Evaluates cash flow and makes recommendations. Provides an input on investment policy making
- Monthly cash flow management and forecasting
- Management of quarterly investments
- Reviews of monthly bank reconciliations
- Reviews of monthly credit card reconciliations
- Collects Targets - setting of monthly targets for the collection of current and long outstanding debt
- Evaluates effectiveness of cash flow management and make recommendations
- Draft and submit for approval CRAN’s Investment Policy as required
- Reviews monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Compiles the investment summary at year end
Universal Access Services (UAS) (financial accounting)
- Executes the UAS regulations and revenue policy to ensure accurate and timely billing of customers
- Drafts annual financial statements on CaseWare in line with IFRS for external auditor’s review
- Assists Supervisor in ensuring preparation and submission of Integrated Annual Statements comply with statutory deadlines
- Drafts and submit for review accounting policies relevant to UAS as required
Human Capital and Administration
- Performs employee functions (e.g., recruitment, industrial relations, etc.) to maintain and enhance productivity and results achievement
- Cascades and propose employee annual performance objectives and targets ensuring alignment divisional objectives
- Mentor, coach and provide on the job training and recommend appropriate development programmes where necessary
Requisites
- A relevant recognized B. Com Accounting Degree or equivalent at ( NQF 7) and completed articles
- Five (5) to Six (6) years’ experience of Financial Accounting or Management Accounting of which 3 to 5 years’ experience in supervisory position
- Sage X3, or any related ERP systems SAP, ORACLE, PASTEL or ACCPAC, Sage 300 and CaseWare
- Experience on IDU ERP Systems and ASMS an added advantage
- Member in Good Standing of ACCA, CIMA, ICAN, SAICA or related professional body of accountants
- Proficiency in MS Office packages and financial management software
- Analytical thinker
- Good team player and self -starter
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit proof of Namibian Police clearance
