Ohorongo Cement is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer, to be based in Tsumeb, Namibia.
Description
- Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager the incumbent will develop, organize, maintain and execute all engineering functions and support materials and documentation so that maintenance jobs, shutdowns and projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner
Duties
- Support the Mechanical Maintenance Manager by providing in-field technical guidance for planned and unplanned maintenance and condition monitoring jobs
- Optimize maintenance costs and efficiency by developing in-house repair methods and procedures and sourcing of alternative suppliers for spare parts for mechanical and electrical equipment
- Improve mean time failures (MTBF) by initiating changes in the repair materials used, improving lubrication methods, sourcing different spare part technologies, and implementing modifications to equipment
- Plan, design and execute small equipment improvement projects in liaison with the production and other departments
- Ensure safety by providing on-the-job guidance related to safe work methods, safety improvements and encouraging risk-based safety conscious behavior
- Coordinate availability of spares with warehouse manager
- Organize and coordinate workflow and issuing of jobcards
- Coordinate kiln shut planning activities based on priorities
- Responsible for daily planning of all work in mechanical maintenance
- Update daily data and statistics for maintenance
- Monitors and continuously improves production systems and processes to meet company standards
- Research and conduct return on investment analysis and propose / recommend business case for new equipment
Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering
- Five (5) years’ relevant experience, preferably in the mining or manufacturing industries
- Fundamental understanding of electrical systems is a pre-requisite
- Fluency in maintenance planning and project management software, AutoCAD, SAP Microsoft Office applications
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and its practical
- Must have the ability to anticipate, analyse, diagnose, and resolve problems
- Logical and systematic approach towards problem solving and data management
- Qualifications and experience in the field of condition monitoring would be an added advantage
- Experience in automation and or earth moving machinery would be an added advantage
- Deliver extremely accurate work
- Ability to organize own workload, prioritize tasks, take initiative, and apply good judgement
- Business fluency in English is a pre-requisite. Fluency in other local Namibian languages would be an advantage
