DBN is recruiting a Loan Books Accountant, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- To manage the loan book by overseeing transaction processes and systems functionality and perform month end processes in order to verify the integrity and correctness of loans and to ensure accurate record of bank transactions

Duties
- Verify accuracy, correctness and completeness of transactions processed and work performed by the Assistant Loan Book Administrator
- Create disbursement batch on ABACUS and draft written proposals for payments for CFO’s approval
- Calculate settlement figures from client account records on ABACUS and prepare settlement letters to be provided to the clients
- Prepare monthly reports to accurately maintain and analyse the loan book performance
- Perform month-end procedures and produce monthend reports to accurately maintain and report on the loan book and related performance analysis
- Provide back-end support to developing, refining, and consolidating the Financial Forecast Model (Sustainability Model) to improve operational and strategic planning at an institutional and departmental level
- Provide accounting support by performing loan book analysis, monthly management accounts, and interim financial statements, and preparing
annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
- Design relevant audit working papers, assisting with internal and external audit queries and assisting with enhancing internal controls to strengthen the financial control environment
- Monitor performance standards and set key performance Indicators for the team and track daily and/or accordance with the annual performance reviews
Requisites
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or Banking (NQF level 7, from an NQA recognized tertiary institution)
- Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a Banking environment, with exposure in Credit and SAP/ ABACUS or other loans system of which 2 years on supervisory level
- Registered Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification and/or completed articles will be an added advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Advanced Level
- Good verbal and written communications skills

- Good interpersonal skills and ability to contribute to teamwork
- Proven supervision and control skills
- Excellent planning and organizing skills with an attention to detail
