BDO is recruiting a Level 3 NIPA Trainee Accountant (m/f), to be based in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
Duties
- Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, the Accounting Trainee is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting related activities assigned to him/her by the Portfolio Manager. In particular, the Level 3 NIPA Trainee is responsible to:
- Interpret, understand and execute the detailed instructions/accounting programme/assignment to meet the Client expectations on each assignment
- Understand the departmental budget and objective of the department
- Train and set-up of Level 1 NIPA Trainees to execute detailed instructions/accounting programmes/assignments
- Supervise, train and assist Level 1 Trainees in their execution of detailed instructions/accounting programmes/assignments
- Understand the Firms Risk and Quality procedures, ensuring adherence of these by self and sub-ordinates
Contribute to the culture of Quality, Ethical and Professional Behaviour of the Firm in a positive manner
- To act as a point of contact within the Firm for the Client, together with the Portfolio Manager and/or Partner
- This will involve responding quickly (within 24 hours or earlier on all client requests) to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided, and maintaining regular contact with clients
- There will be an expectation that you will take full responsibility for project delivery on your assignments
- Review work prepared by Level 1 NIPA Trainees
- To ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep Manager informed of overruns
Requisites
- Grade 12 Certificate and registered for a BCompt (or equivalent) degree with an accredited institute and have completed all second year subjects and at least 60% of third year subjects
- High workable of MS Office
- Intermediate level of working knowledge of a variety of accounting software (CaseWare, Pastel, VIP, Xero, etc.)
- Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
- Dedicated and ambitious personality
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to work under pressure
