Legal Recoveries Collections Manager

FNB Namibia is recruiting a Legal Recoveries Collections Manager, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • To focus on recoveries from defaulting clients, including liaising with external legal advisers or liquidators and business rescue practitioners to minimize collections risks and losses in the business through the pro-active identification of issues that could result in litigation
Duties
  • Overall responsibility for the recoveries team and the recoveries on the NPL book
  • Provide input into the budget and manage and report on budget usage that reflects delivery of planned work within agreed parameters
  • Implement appropriate recovery and activation strategies to maximize the collection of arrears amounts to minimize bad debt write offs
  • Contribute to the establishment of best practices in credit analysis and verification in line with the business methodology and guidelines
  • Actively manage recovery efforts to ensure actions taken are in the best interest of the bank Develop, encourage and nurture collaborative relationships across area of specialization
  • Manage team performance in achievement of business objectives Participate in planned activities that are appropriate for own development
  • Display and encourage an appreciation of teamwork and inclusivity
  • Provide input into the development of the tactical strategy and develop and implement a supporting operational strategy to maximize recovery efforts
  • Design and implement business unit targets for recovery strategy implementation
  • Compile reports that track progress and guide business to make informed decisions
  • Ensure development and continuous value add improvement to operational processes, to ensure up to date practices in line with economic developments are implemented
  • Manages risks in own area of responsibility
  • Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
  • Creates solutions to meet customer demands to deliver internal and external customer service excellence through adherence to quality service standards
Requisites
  • Have a Bachelor of Law
  • 5 - 7 years Banking experience, including knowledge in credit and legal collection process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professionally qualified and experienced middle/ senior management
