Junior Accountant

B2Gold is recruiting a Junior Accountant, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The Junior Accountant will assist the Treasury Superintendent in Financial Accounting, reconciliations, payment processing and documentation management
Duties
  • Financial Accounting:
  • Account for all petty cash, credit cards, field staff advances, bank and associated transactions
  • Verify the validity and accuracy of data received from other parties by comparing the amount and description to the approved supporting documentation
  • Ensure correct treatment of VAT and coding
  • Capture all transactions on Sage with a General Journal and post ad-hoc journals as needed (accruals, Intercompany invoicing, etc.)
  • Reconciliations and Payment Processing:
  • Ensure that all bank accounts are reconciled monthly, within 3 days after month end
  • Reconcile all transactions / expenses captured on Sage
  • Follow up on any differences that may exist between the balance as per Sage and the balance as per signed / approved supporting documents
  • Prepare reconciliations of all credit cards, fuel cards, field staff advances, other receivables, other payables and deposits
  • Review payment reconciliations
  • Capture all payments on Sage to the relevant supplier account [on the specific payment date]
  • Ensure proper matching of payments to invoices
  • File all payments timeously
  • Journals, Journal Files and Documentation Management:
  • Ensure that journal files are complete and filed in sequence
  • Ensure the file has the latest reviewed journal with supporting documentation attached
  • Post ad-hoc journals as needed
  • Archive all documentation older than 3 months
  • Store all archived documents older than two years
  • Health, Safety and Environment:
  • Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Comply with the Namibian Mining Act (Labour Act, Ordinance, Minerals Act, and Explosives Act) and Regulation clauses applicable to the work area
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of the work area based on the schedule set by Management
Requisites
  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Minimum National Diploma in Finance / Accounting
  • Minimum 3 year’s working experience within an accounting environment
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence
