IT Security Specialist

Description

• Job grade: C4 Patterson grading)
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for protecting our organization’s data, ensuring robust security protocols, and mitigating any cybersecurity threats, and reports directly to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Duties

• Develop, implement, and maintain security strategies, protocols, and procedures to protect the bank's IT systems
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and breaches, conducting detailed investigations to prevent future occurrences
• Ensure the security of data, networks, and communication systems in compliance with regulatory and industry standards (ISO, PCI DSS, etc.)
• Manage security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, and encryption
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify risks and recommend improvements
• Collaborate with IT teams to design secure system architectures and conduct security training for staff
• Stay up to date on emerging cybersecurity threats, advising the bank on evolving security challenges
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as GDPR, for data protection and privacy
• Coordinate with external security vendors for risk management and penetration testing

Requisites

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT security or a related role in the financial sector
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and best practices
• Professional certifications such as CND, CPENT, OSCP, or CEH will be an added advantage
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, antivirus, and encryption
• Strong knowledge of network security, cloud security, and secure coding practices
• Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and a proactive attitude
