Nedbank is recruiting for an Internal Vacancy: Head - Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) Banking (NB10) Reporting to - Executive Retail and Business Banking, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The emphasis of this position will be on developing new opportunities with clients as well as marketing the bank’s products & services in a competitive business banking environment whilst guiding, mentoring and assisting the SME team members. Also interface with existing and prospective SME Clients with the view to build and establish strong banking relationships
Duties
  • Overall responsible for the entire Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) Department, management and operational functions
  • Acquisition of new SME clients and retention of existing clients throughout the retail bank network
  • Deliver world class benchmarked customer service for SME’s
  • Conformance Audit and Risk environment, benchmark and control
  • Bank of Namibia regulations and recycling standards custodian
  • Formulate and implement the SME business strategy and targets to ensure revenue and market share growth
  • Exceed sales, growth and profit targets
  • Maintaining and growing an existing business banking client portfolio
  • Marketing SME products & services to clients as well as prospective clients
  • Responsible for team sales targets
  • Ensure that the team provide superior client service and enhanced client relationships
  • Implement effective risk management structures, processes and measures
  • Mentor and train the team through motivation and experience in the SME business market
  • Attract and retain clients, increase revenue and returns by managing the product life cycle within the bank’s mandates
  • Identifying gaps and making recommendations
  • Manage department budget to achieve budgeted targets by controlling expenses and managing resources
  • Develop business cases that align with strategy by identifying opportunities to create new products/functionalities, enhancing existing products and recommending terminations
  • Ensure competitiveness by monitoring trends and activities and providing strategic inputs for solutions to meet client expectations
  • Drive profitable customer acquisition and retention by ensuring that products respond to the market and client needs and expectations, as well as business requirements
  • Ensure product effectiveness in meeting client needs and manage risk. Collaborative relationships across clusters and partnering with internal stakeholders in product development
  • Resolve queries from internal and external clients by investigation, providing information, managing expectations, identifying opportunities for service improvements and making recommendations
  • Support the business and ensure that product delivery meets expectations by providing education and training to external and internal clients and other stakeholders
  • Lead the department by driving excellence and building trust through effective communication and clear accountabilities
  • Lead product development and enhancements by building relationships and networks with external vendors and suppliers identifying potential collaborators, engaging and collaborating with internal stakeholders
  • Execute strategy by ensuring that projects are prioritized, requests are allocated, plans and budgets are drawn up and implemented
  • Ensure that business cases are drawn up, align with strategy and meet business requirements are documented and that business cases are approved in line with bank’s product approval processes
  • Ensure that business cases are realized and achieve results by monitoring progress using management information systems, identifying gaps and making improvements
Requisites
  • Relevant B Degree, diploma or equivalent. MBA or Hons in Commerce will be an advantage
  • Minimum of ten (10) years financial services or professional services experience of which at least five (5) years as a Manager
  • Experience in managing diverse teams
  • SME Industry & market knowledge
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Abilities & Requirements:
  • Fully conversant with local banking conditions
  • Must have a high degree of self-confidence, a pleasant personality and must be a self-starter
  • Extensive and sound experience in all aspects of sales and banking
  • Ability to work under pressure, team oriented and a flexible approach
  • Customer service driven and results orientated
  • Good problem solving, planning and decision-making skills
  • A sound credit background linked with superior interpersonal and marketing skills
  • Business writing skills
  • Governance, Risk and controls
  • Regulatory knowledge
  • Product knowledge
