Swakop Uranium is recruiting an HOD: Processing, in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
- To manage the entire processing plant including plant maintenance in order to produce uranium in a cost effective manner
- Develop and implement management strategies to optimise and analyse productivity indicators and implement actions for improved productivity
Duties
- Review production output statistics and investigate and action deviations
- Develop and manage plant optimization initiatives and review results on a continuous basis
- Manage the reliability, optimization and sustainability of the treatment plant to allow for continuous improvement in terms of recovery efficiency and uranium value
- Review and regulate the commitment of resources within the processing department
- Recommend structural and workforce plan changes and review and align Labour Utilization & KPI’s accordingly
- Identify operational processes requiring investigation, formulate project plans and implement recommendations
- Develop and implement process specific functional specifications and recommend modifications and improvements
- Outline and mitigate risks within the plant that may have low to significant impact on the business
- Review and set work standards, practices and procedures to achieve/optimize process specific utilization and efficiency
- Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of metallurgical and maintenance processes and systems
- Utilize Mining models to develop and maintain a metallurgical research capacity that allows for optimum use of external and internal resources and analyze Life of Mine trends
- Manage the development and implementation of improved metallurgical processes and treatment quality standards and systems
- Develop, optimise and manage the Processing department budget
- Prepare the required Processing plant reports, legal register and statistics to comply with all company and statutory / external requirements
Requisites
- BSc-Honours Degree in Minerals Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Extractive Metallurgical Engineering, Process Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a Metallurgical and Processing environment of which 5 years’ should have been in a senior management capacity
- Experience in designing and implementing plant/process systems to increase productivity
- Sound understanding of plant maintenance processes
- Project management and uranium mining experience an advantage
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
