Head: Internal Audit

Description

• Job grade: E1 (Patterson grading)
• Purpose is to ensure compliance with sound internal auditing standards, ensure the establishment of an audit charter, an audit plan, and written policies and procedures

Duties

• Plan and conduct audits of banking processes, including IT systems, applications, and cybersecurity measures, to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, governance processes, and IT infrastructure
• Review IT systems and processes to identify vulnerabilities, inefficiencies, and areas of non-compliance
• Analyze financial and IT data, transaction records, and operational procedures to identify potential risks or irregularities
• Prepare audit reports with clear recommendations for improvements and corrective actions, particularly in IT systems
• Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations, including IT-related controls, and follow up to ensure compliance
• Collaborate with management to design and strengthen internal controls, IT security measures, and risk mitigation strategies
• Stay updated on industry regulations, IT security standards, and emerging risks, particularly those related to IT, advising management accordingly
• Assist with external audits, regulatory examinations, and IT security audits to ensure accurate reporting and adherence to compliance requirements
• Conduct investigations into financial discrepancies, IT breaches, or violations of internal policy

Requisites

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, IT or related field Professional certifications such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), ACCA, or CA (Namibia) are preferred
• 10 years banking experience in Auditing or financial sector, with 5 years in a managerial capacity
• CA certification is a prerequisite
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, internal controls, risk management, and governance
• Experience with audit software and data analytics tools is an advantage
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Valid drivers license
• Must be Namibian
