Agra is recruiting a Gunsmith, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The successful incumbent will be based at Safari Den - Windhoek and report to the Branch Manager
Duties
- Responsible for repairing of weapons (guns, rifles, pistols, revolvers; different makes and types)
- Fixing recoil pads on rifles
- Accurately fitting of telescopes on rifles
- Sandblasting and recoating of guns
- Fine-tuning precision of guns
- “Shooting-in”/ testing of guns on the shooting range
- Customisation of guns/ rifles/ pistols/ revolvers
- Finishing the wooden parts of rifles (shafts)
- Carving in the barrel of the rifles
- Carving rifle stocks into different shapes
- Checkering and engraving guns
- Welding parts/tools together
- Manufacturing of spare parts and special tools
- Operating the fitting and turning machine
- Forecasting and ordering guns and ammunition
- Adhering to legal requirements (safeguarding/ licensing/ applications)
- Keeping registers up-to-date
- Assisting customers with completing the license application form
- Responsible for stock take of weapons
- Offering expert advice to customers (e.g. gun handling)
Requisites
- Namibian citizenship
- A 4-year recognised qualification as a Gunsmith
- Minimum 3 years experience as a gunsmith
- Must have strong product knowledge and a proven track record of working with guns and ammunition
- Up-to date with relevant legal requirements pertaining to arms and ammunition
- Proficiency in English
- A valid driver’s license
