Swakopmund Uranium is recruiting a Geologist: Production (m/f), to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
- To provide effective geological service to meet the Company’s production requirements and objectives ensuring that the ore extracted from the pit is maximized
Duties
- Map, analyze and interpret geological information sources such as survey data, drill hole logs, bore/drill holes or aerial photos to optimize resource utilization
- Prepare geological maps concerning mineral extraction, using results of fieldwork or laboratory research
- Liaise and work closely with drill and blast personnel to determine the best way to blast all of the rock of the open pit floor
- Study material as they are extracted to assess their quality
- Collect the mapping data, face and cone mapping
- Carry out Model, Truck Scanner reconciliation and metal balance
- Analyze deviations and compile reports to inform management on business decisions
- Maintain Radiometric Truck Scanner and Support Mining Operations on the use of Truck Scanner
- Monitor Process Plant performance metrics and analyze performance trends in relation to feed parameters
- Plan and conduct geological field studies or surveys, sample collection, including drilling and testing programs used to collect data for research or survey results and submit samples to laboratories including QC inserts
- Monitor dilution and minimize the adverse effects of dilution on grade
- Manage stockpile movements to ensure that control over resources is maintained
- Update geological databases and model spatial relationships of discrete intrusions and waste inclusions in individual ore structures
- Check that probes are certified and calibrated
- Plan for and conduct instrument certification
- Carry out QA/QC for down hole data depending on basic probing
- Conduct calculations for conversions to U308 by collecting parameters for calculations, making calculations and produce reports
- Analyze trends between the different kinds of data to identify anomalies
Requisites
- BSc. Honours Degree in Geology or similar qualification in Geology
- 3 years’ working experience as a Geologist in a hard rock production geology environment
- Uranium open pit mine experience will be an added advantage
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
- 4x4 driving know how is an added advantage
- Registration with SACNASP or similar professional body will be an added advantage
