UNESCO is recruiting a Gender and Leaving No One Behind Specialist (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of RCO Strategic Planner and Team Leader or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Gender and Leaving No One Behind Specialist will:
- Support effective coordination and secretariat services to the Gender Theme Group (GTG), ender based violence sub-pillar and Social Transformation Pillar meetings.
Support that the LNOB approach is taken into account in the UN immediate socio-economic assessment and response plan to COVID-19
- Support interagency coordination in the area of human rights (GTG, Good Governance Pillar or other task forces set up by the UNCT) for UNCT monitoring, reporting and capacity building in relation to human rights treaty bodies. In addition, to support RCO with specific human rights requests from civil society and LNOB groups
- Coordinate and provide support to GTG ensuring that they implement activities as per the PSEA Action plan and the UNCT SWAP Scorecard
- Support the Joint Working Group on Disability in the implementation and roll out of the UNDIS and disability scorecard
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor
Eligibility criteria
- Age: 27 - 80

- Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment

Requisites
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in Gender or/and human rights and/or development studies and/or social science
- 3 years of experience in the area of gender or/and human rights at the national and/or international level
- Experience with United Nations or development organizations is an asset
- Excellent oral and written skills in English; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive
- Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels;
- Familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines
