Financial Manager: Life

Duties

• We require a Finance Manager. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards at a business unit level
• Key Performance Areas of the Role:
• Being responsible for the financial accounting function
• Ensuring a sound control environment is in place and adhered to
• Being accountable for accurate and on time monthly financial reporting
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards at business unit level
• Ensuring all taxes and regulatory requirements are submitted accurately and on time
• Providing technical assistance to Group CFO and liaising with key stakeholders
• Integrating accounting, actuarial and tax knowledge in terms of analysis and interpretation of technical issues
• Contributing to the finance strategy by innovation and new control processes
• Managing the performance of individuals in the finance team and the performance of the team as a whole
• Keeping abreast of current accounting and tax development
• Carrying overall responsibility for the preparation and quality of financial accounts and maintenance of financial records
• Assisting in deciding on the financial and business viability of new and existing projects and programs
• Analyzing financial records such as income, expenditure and profitability trends
• Planning and preparing budgets and monitoring budget versus actual variances
• Analyzing and monitoring the effect of budget or policy changes on business unit productivity
• Being responsible for audit liaison as well as tax legislative & statutory requirements
• Preparing of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS

Requisites

• Namibian Citizenship
• Relevant CA/ACCA/CIMA qualification
• Signed off audit articles
• At least five years’ experience in an accounting environment (Financial Services experience would be an advantage)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Strong technical skills
• Have the ability to build positive working relationships with internal & external stakeholders
• Must be analytical, attentive to detail, a self-starter and have the ability to work under pressure
• Must be able to work independently
• Willing to go the extra mile to reach a common goal
• Team player
