Extrusion Operations – Plastic Extruder

Description

• To manage raw materials, the ordering, the dispatch, and logistics thereof and finished materials. As well as manage the production team being responsible for the production of blown film products in accordance with good manufacturing practices and quality requirements

Duties

• Operational:
• Set up production and operational process
• Ensure the correct started up of Machines. Operate machinery effectively and efficiently
• Ensure that machinery is operated within specified requirements and perform on correct quality
• Set and change machines as required
• Ensure that machinery is always safe to work with and do regular visual checks to ensure smooth operation of machinery
• Ensure efficient and optimal production while minimize waste of products
• Manage the stock levels of raw materials for production process
• Manage the use of all utilities on site
• Assist with installation and commissioning of factory and utility equipment
• Being responsible for recipe formulations, product innovations, procedure setups and work instructions
• Assist with mechanical and electrical maintenance on all equipment in the process as well as site housekeeping
• Stay abreast on industry standards
• Being responsible for administrative functions
• Perform ad hoc duties as required by the Company
• Quality Control:
• Ensure the quality of final product as per specifications
• Maintains the ISO 9001/2000 system by always adhering to work procedures, daily/ monthly cleaning schedules and development of new work procedures where needed and continuous improvement
• Monitor and maintain optimal production
• Receiving: raw materials and Dispatch of final products. Also maintaining the correct administrative practices with regards to this
• Ensure that Namib Mills adheres to best practices on manufacturing, stay abreast on raw material and production process and industry changes
• Working closely with QA, QC and Packaging departments and always ensuring adherence to their requirements
• Completion of production and weight sheets - ensure 100% stock control
• Ensure that all order requirements (demands) are done (met) for the next day
• Staff Supervision:
• Supervise staff and ensure all staff remain competent
• Be a proactive part of the operations team and assist in any activities as required by the team
• Maintain discipline to reach production targets and improve productivity
• Logistics:
• Ensure all raw material is ordered and deliver as per production requirements
• Ensure all production occurs as per production requirements
• Manage logistics to deliver raw materials to end user
• Financial:
• Accurate drafting and timeous submission of annual budget
• Controlling of budget with minimal variance between budgeted amounts and actual amounts. Ensure lowest cost production
• Ensure budget meets operational requirements
• Adhering to company policies and procedures
• Reporting on financials monthly

Requisites

• Grade 12 (NQF 4)
• 2 Years relevant supervision experience in manufacturing, preferably in plastic extrusion or equivalent extrusion/plastic industry experience
• Technical background will be an added advantage
• OTHER:
• Recycling knowledge
• Accpac experience
• Must be able to work shifts, weekends, overtime and on public holidays
• Namibian citizen
