Bank Windhoek is recruiting an Executive Officer: Capricorn Private Wealth , to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Provide leadership and direction for all banking related Private Wealth functions and related activities, contributing a significant and growing percentage of the Bank’s business volume and profitability
- This includes the Design and Implementation of the Private Wealth Strategy in Line with Bank Strategy, business and risk management, as well as optimization of target and budget achievement, balance sheet and income statement for the Division
Duties
- Design and Implement the Private Wealth Strategy in Line with Bank Strategy:
- Participate in Bank’s development of overall strategy and contributes specialized advice in Private Wealth
- Formulate and implement the Divisional Strategy
- Design and implement plans to increase the Divisional Value propositions, through identification of development of new and innovative products, potential alliances inclusive of all personal and business banking clients
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate controls and governance by overseeing, supervising, and managing the implementation of daily operations and first line of defense control through direct reports in alignment with goals and strategies of private banking business
- Translate strategy into meaningful operational targets and strategic focus areas for Private Wealth in conjunction with in-country operations
- Take accountability for overall achievement of budgets and targets in terms of advances, funding, net profit, customer experience, feedback from market, cost management and relevant benchmarks
- Contract the development of new and innovative products and monitor the service standard of outsourced activities to external service providers
- Develop and maintain the policies and procedures as applicable to ensure an effective control framework and operational efficiency of private wealth business
- Facilitate cross-functional working and collaboration and full engagement of other Executive Management Team Members
- Business Management:
- Oversee the implementation of the Divisional Product Development and Pricing Strategies, update and adjust continuously
- Analyze internal operations and work collaboratively to develop and improve systems, processes, controls and procedures that improve the overall efficiency of Private Wealth business and maintaining excellent client service
- Plan the resource requirements for the Divisional Business (including people, capex, opex, systems and Strategic Investment), negotiate and secure its allocation in the Division and ultimate delivery based on contracted targets
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess the operational risk profile and effectiveness of controls and ensure the operational risk profile adheres to the established risk appetite and tolerance and complies with policies, standards, and guidelines
- Act as strategic partner with other executives and Board and work closely with the team to ensure risk framework and policies remain relevant and correctly implemented
- Ensure proper maintenance of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans and supervise respective implementation
- Ensure that the various risk profiles pertaining to Division are understood and appropriately managed (including the risk profiles of proposed new initiatives, ventures, products / services, and major projects within Division
- Ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place by developing and providing a strong control environment
- Ensure adequacy, accuracy and effectiveness of information and reporting systems pertaining to risk management and control (MIS reports do spot checks to confirm accuracy and validity)
- Reports on risk to the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and the Board on a regular basis
- Divisional and People Management:
- Analyze the business plan to determine applicable deliverables and targets, determine skill requirements as per talent policy framework and relevant human resources policies and procedures (Talent Management, Performance Management, EE Targets, Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity)
- Responsible to ensure excellent teamwork and development and that all demonstrated behaviours are aligned with the Bank’s vision and values
- Create a culture of constructive challenge of assumptions and practice
- Provide tools to encourage, reinforce, share, and collaborate
- Develop and manage the Private Wealth budget, adhering to financial guidelines and expenditure control
- Coach and develop the team to ensure delivery of quality output and management of team resources
Requisites
- Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B. Com Degree or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification with a relevant post-graduate qualification (an MBA will count towards recommendation)
- 10 years’ experience in the banking/financial services, of which 5 years’ should have been in a Senior Management position
- Experience:
- Solid knowledge and experience in private banking business operations, exposure to Namibian banks/financial institutions
- Knowledge of asset management and wealth functions will be an added advantage
- Strong sense of operational risk management and internal control
- Strong decision-making skills in evaluating creditworthiness and managing credit risk and exposures
- Diligent, committed, and able to work under pressure
- Excellent customer relations (positively engage with all customers)
