Description
- An exciting opportunity exists for an Engineer Electrical
- The primary purpose of this role is to provide accountability to electrical functional solutions, ensure compliance to engineering standards and quality requirements
- Design, maintain, and optimize the electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient mining operations
Duties
- Maintaining HSE standards
- Efficiently design, implement, and maintain electrical systems in compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical infrastructures for operational purposes to ensure production targets will be met
- Performing a wide range of engineering tasks including performing engineering design using engineering software, tools, and equipment
- Executing electrical activities in line with the electrical engineering strategy and keeping abreast with latest technological advancements
- Identifying downtime root causes and implement preventative maintenance programs to eliminate downtime causes
- Overseeing electrical engineering projects within the mine, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting
- Providing input in preparation of the section’s annual operational budget
- Monitoring and reviewing processes and all materials used within all areas under the incumbent’s control
- Recommending improvements to processes and discusses these with other foremen involved in the process
Requisites
- Grade 12 Certificate
- A recognized bachelor’s degree (BSc, BEng or BTech) in Electrical/Electronic/Power (Heavy Current) Engineering NQF Level 7/8
- OR
- Recognized National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Power (Heavy current) Engineering NQF Level 6
- Knowledge of electrical software such as DigSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD Electrical, FT Energy Metrix, Sepam or PLC related software will be an added advantage
- Registration with the Engineering council will be an added advantage
- For Degree Holders: Bachelor/BEng/ BTech degree: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a mining electrical or heavy current environment with exposure in designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems and
- troubleshooting electrical systems and performing maintenance
- For Diploma Holders: A minimum of Seven (7) years of experience in a mining electrical or heavy current environment with exposure in designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems and troubleshooting electrical systems and
- performing maintenance
- A valid Code B driver’s licence
- A Police certificate of conduct of not older than six months is required
- A record will not automatically disqualify candidates
