FNB Namibia is recruiting an Employee Relations Specialist, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Duties
- To develop and implement Employee Relations strategies and provide guidance, support, and expert advice to the business on Employee Relations issues
- Responsibilities:
- Control expenditure and identify process improvements to contain and reduce costs
- Creates solutions to meet customer demands
- Deliver internal and external customer service excellence through adherence to quality service standards
- Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration, and innovation
- Manages risks in own area of responsibility
- Ensure development and continuous value add improvement to operational processes
- Compile reports that track progress and guide business to make informed decisions
- Maintain expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and provide of advice to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain up to date knowledge of local and global trends
- Provide thought leadership and expertise
- Analyze misconducts to determine whether disciplinary action is necessary
- Investigate grievances and recommend course of action
- Initiate and implement dispute resolution mechanisms
- Investigate Industrial Relations issues such as working conditions, disciplinary actions and employee appeals and grievances and provides guidance and recommendations for resolutions
- Participate and act as Chair in disciplinary and grievance hearings and ensure that procedural and substantive fairness is complied with
- Keeps an accurate database on the progress of all cases
- Identify training needs for the different levels of employees and develop Employee Relation training programs and ensures the implementation and monitoring thereof.
- Develop Employee Relations strategies and ensure effective implementation thereof
- Minimize lawsuits against the FNB Group and to ensure that cases are successfully settled
- Ensure consistent application of industrial relations policies and procedures throughout the Group
- Ensure that disciplinary and grievance hearings are conducted in accordance with company procedures and legislative requirements
- Recommend amendments on a suitable code of conduct to ensure that the code is in line with the local employment requirements
- Constantly monitor the industrial relations climate internally and externally and recommends best practice initiatives and actions
- Monitor compliance with relevant employment legislations
- Submit budget requirements for the Employee Relations function
- Authorize and recommend expenses and manage expenses within approved budget
- Submit detailed monthly expense report
- Maintaining harmonious employer/employee relations
- Deal with delegated union matters e.g., recognition, collective bargaining etc
- Initiate and convene consultative/communication forums
Requisites
- Minimum Qualification - Bachelors Degree or appropriate 3 years qualification in HR, Labour Law, Industrial Relations
- Experience - 3 to 5 years experience in a similar environment of which 1 to 2 years ideally on junior management level
- Additional Knowledge - Sound knowledge of relevant legislation i.e., Labour Act and Affirmative Action Act
- Sound knowledge of the labour Law
- Sound knowledge in Employee Relations matters i.e., Disciplinary Procedures, Conciliation and Arbitration process
- Knowledge and understanding of FNB’s disciplinary codes and procedures
