Description
- Komatsu is a leading company within the mining and construction earth moving equipment industry. We are currently seeking a Depot Manager in Swakopmund with a Grade 12 and at least 6 years’ experience and 2 years in a supervisory role
Duties
Safety, Health and Environment
- Remains up-to-date with Safety procedures
- Plans for safety events and campaigns
- Takes SHE into account in the planning of work output
- Implement the Komatsu Way 5Ss - sorting, organising, cleaning, ordering and training
- Adheres to SHE policies and procedures
- Instructs/imparts knowledge and procedures to colleagues
- Checks that subordinate staff have understood safety instructions
- Complies with and Instructs colleagues and subordinate staff in the wearing of protective gear and clothing
- Participates in workplace safety events
- Stays informed about emergency first aid kits/fire extinguishers and evacuation procedures
- Operates any company vehicle (truck, car, forklift) within safety standards and procedures, even when not supervised
- Institutes disciplinary action (in conjunction with HR) with regard to non-compliance to SHE policy
- Implements safety awareness in all activities
- Checks that safety signs and signals are in place
- Reports hazardous situations, incidents or accidents
- Provides feedback on the effectiveness of safety events
- Reports equipment that is not in good working order
- Reports on vehicle usage and incidents
- Completes OHS reports
- Service, Repairs & Maintenance (Field or Workshop)
- Provides input into technical section planning
- Stays abreast of parts re-calls and reads service bulletins and technical information to keep updated
- Monitors and checks customer satisfaction, quality and safety adherence, problems and issues
- Authorises the ordering of parts and equipment
- Gains technical product advice
- Implements & monitors special projects and drives designed to impact quality, machine availability and customer satisfaction
- Monitors that appropriate staff with required skill level complete jobs within their abilities and makes recommendations to fill skills gaps
- Schedules staff for training
- De-briefs staff on technical issues after completion of work
- Monitors emergency orders
- Checks regularly that relevant documentation/systems have been updated with job detail, stock & parts usage, hours and comments as stipulated by procedure
- Solves complex issues and problems
- Collates technical information for reporting purposes
- Monitors vehicle fleet – costs, usage, fuel, branding & image, drivers, licenses, fines, etc.
- Produces consolidated reports on service
- Provides feedback to Product Support/Branch Management on technical issues/problems
Inventory management for parts, repairs and maintenance
- Oversees the planning of consumables and other inventory items required for repairs and maintenance
- Monitors the usage of consumables and parts stock
- Monitors that there is not shrinkage of stock and that unused items are checked back into the system
- Collates data on stock usage
- Authorises the procurement of stock
- Oversees the warehouse function
- Monitors stock counts and gains approval for stock write-offs/write-ups
- Monitors stock levels for replenishment and communicates problems and issues to PD (SA)
- Monitoring stock for optimal cost effectiveness
- Reports on stock usage, stock financials, issues and problems
Job Costing, Financial & General Administration
- Authorises quotations for work
- Authorises job/work order costs (including overtime)
- Checks creditor invoices, authorises and obtains approval for payment
- Execute Checks that Warranty claims are processed correctly according to contractual agreements / policy
- Liaises with internal stakeholders with regard to warranty claims and reasons for claim
- Plans and participates in audits
- Controls and monitors the asset register
- Adheres to and monitors adherence to Financial Policies and Procedure
- Verifies that information on quotations, invoices and receipts are correct
- Checks regularly that filing of required source documents (paper files) are up-to-date
- Oversees and checks that systems data is correct and up-to-date
- Assists in the follow-up of outstanding debtors
- Resolves issues regarding the physical depot in conjunction with branch management
- Drafts financial reports vs budget
- Resolves financial issues & queries
- Reports on warranty claims
- Collates metrics for reporting purposes – job costs, parts usage, etc.
Parts Ordering and Inter-Branch Transfers
- Execute Oversees Parts Sales
- Oversees Parts returns
- Monitors emergency orders
- Follows up & monitors back orders
- Uses service and parts information to drive parts sales to customer
- Generates Parts Inventory Availability Reports
- Checks backorder reports
- Checks machine down statuses and follows-up on progress
Product Support
- Assisting with the planning of inspections
- Execute Oversees quality of product support
- Arranges for technical input from experts and training for team
- Checks that training has been scheduled for customers and conducted within professional standards according to Komatsu policy and procedure
Requisites
- Trade/technical qualification, studying towards a business-related Diploma
- Years of Experience:
- 6 years’ experience
- Leadership Experience Included in Total:
- 2 years in a supervisory role
- Technical experience of Komatsu Products (in product support or as a foreman) OR heavy earth moving equipment used in mining/construction
- Experience with regard to customer liaison, Service Level/Contractual agreements, decision making and problem resolution
- Basic financial management with regard to profitability and cost control, inventory management and reporting
