Bank Windhoek is recruiting a Credit Portfolio Manager, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Duties
- The Credit Portfolio Manager will aid senior management in understanding the aggregate risk, improving return on those risks, and identifying and managing concentrations of risk. In contrast to credit risk management on individual deals or borrowers, the position will evaluate across the entire loans and advances book
- CREDIT POLICY AND STRATEGY:
- Responsible to assist in driving strategy research and competitor analyses:
- Research and keep abreast with new regulatory, economically, consumer and market developments and approaches with respect to Credit
- Inform and propose changes to Credit Strategy through research reports, market and competitor analyses, which Credit Management will consume and formulate strategy with
- Responsible for the assessment of credit applications and management of allocated portfolio
- CREDIT PORTFOLIO OPTIMIZATION, ANALYSIS AND MANAGEMENT:
- Dynamic management of the credit portfolio to place the bank in strategic position to direct balance sheet construction
- Perform credit portfolio analyses to inform credit management, managers and business in optimally managing the credit portfolio, in order to achieve credit
- CREDIT ASSESSMENT AND AFTERCARE:
- Responsible for the assessment and after care with respect to the credit portfolio within the Bank
- Ensure that credit applications and assessments in terms of tasks assigned. Conform to/comply with the “Credit Risk Management Model” prescriptions with limited assistance to interpret credit policy issues
- IFRS 9 AND LEGAL PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT:
- In terms of IFRS 9 provision requirement, the position is responsible for:
- Understand and inform the IFRS 9 methodology
- Optimize IFRS 9 provisions by identifying portfolio management and process improvement areas
- Identify portfolio subsets driving abnormal increases in provisions
- Develop and maintain tools and techniques to support credit and business in proactively identifying increases in credit risk and provisions
- Assess clients transferred to non-accrual status and propose improvements in credit portfolio management
- Responsible for assessing accounts transferred to Legal Collections Branch (within allocated mandate) to ensure that all options are being addressed to limit losses for the bank to the minimum
- Assess accounts transferred to Legal Collections Branch to ensure that all actions are considered to limit potential losses to the bank to the minimum
- Investigate actions followed by branch for the duration of the account to determine whether some parties were careless or are to blame for potential losses
- Report instances where staff members acted outside their mandate or where certain actions increased the probability of losses to the bank
- REPORTS and MONITORING:
- Responsible to assist Head: Corporate Credit in developing reports to aid credit managers and business with credit portfolio management, adherence to regulation and executing strategy
- CONSULTING:
- Ensure availability in a consulting capacity to assist Credit team and branches where and when the need arises
- Manage Credit more effectively on a broader, portfolio role, with a requirement to align closely with other functions such as finance, treasury, risk (data and methodology) and business-orientated functions
- Assists in identifying training needs to give through to the Learning and Development Department
- Responsible for the following:
- All Credit Risk forum responsibilities
- All Counter Party/Treasury facilities
- Project management
- Strategy of Credit Department
- Invitee to the Board Credit Committee
- Assist Credit Management with the following:
- ALCO responsibilities including Interest rate forecast
- All Risk Committee responsibilities including Operational Risk forum
- Commercial, Structured and Project Finance
- GENERAL:
- Must be willing to do any other reasonable and lawful instruction as given to the incumbent by his/her supervisor on time
Requisites
- 8 years’ experience in Credit, Risk and Banking environment
- Knowledge of the system and processing activities
- Self-confidence and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate: basic MS software, database extraction and report creation
- Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence
- Must have knowledge of the different regions and sectors within Namibia
- Product knowledge
- Qualifications:
- Minimum Post Graduate (Hons. Or Masters B.Com/B.Sc) degree in Finance/Portfolio Management/Statistics/Risk
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), obtained or in progress, will be an added advantage
