Credit Manager

Description

• Job grade: D3 (Patterson grading)
• The candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing the bank’s credit policies, managing credit risk, and ensuring that the bank’s lending portfolio aligns with regulatory requirements and the institution's risk appetite. The position reports directly to the Chief Risk Officers (CRO)

Duties

• Develop and implement credit risk policies, procedures, and strategies in line with the bank’s overall risk management framework
• Oversee the entire credit lifecycle, from origination to collection, ensuring sound risk management and compliance with regulatory standards
• Analyze the bank’s credit portfolio, identifying risk exposures and ensuring timely and effective mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with business units to ensure that credit policies align with product development and market needs
• Review and approve high-value credit proposals, ensuring they meet the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements
• Conduct regular credit portfolio reviews and stress testing to assess the bank’s exposure to risk and potential impacts on capital
• Work closely with the Chief Risk Officer to prepare credit risk reports for senior management and the Board of Directors
• Lead the development of credit scoring models and risk rating systems to improve decision-making processes
• Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry best practices in credit risk management, ensuring the bank's policies remain up to date
• Manage, mentor, and develop the credit team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability

Requisites

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
• Professional certifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), FRM (Financial Risk Manager), or relevant banking qualifications are a plus
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in credit risk management within the banking or financial services sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Deep understanding of credit risk principles, lending processes, and regulatory requirements
• Proven experience in managing credit portfolios, risk assessments, and implementing credit risk frameworks
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments
• Valid drivers license
• Must be Namibian
