Swakop Uranium recruiting a Coordinator: Sustainable Development (m/f), to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Duties
- To coordinate Swakop Uranium’s (SU) Sustainability development strategy and projects
- Provide input into the Public Relations and Corporate Communication policies, procedures and processes aligned to Swakop Uranium’s overall strategic objectives
- Interpret and apply all statutory requirements, regulations and standards that impact Public relations and make recommendations for improvement or to eliminate risks
- Establish and maintain an excellent relationship with stakeholders and partners including the community, local authorities, business partners and associations
- Ensure that communications and promotional material are produced. Coordinate and implement SU’s long-term sustainability strategy, plan and programme through the SU Foundation
- Monitor the sustainable development programme, measuring the impact of various interventions to ensure their continued relevance in form and direction towards meeting SU’s sustainable development priorities
- Prepare board packs and update scorecard for the Sustainability Board subcommittee meetings as required
- Facilitate all activities of the Foundation in conjunction with the Trustees
- Monitor Foundations performance measures against legislative expectations and advises on the long-term sustainability plan in terms of current and envisaged legislation
- Facilitate and coordinate administrative duties related to the SU Foundation
- Develop and implement detailed activity programme to support the sustainability plan
- Monitor the socio economic environment to identify potential projects of interest for Trust approval
- Compile annual Sustainability Report and submit for approval before issuing
- Attend official Stakeholder engagement forums
- Initiate and maintain professional cooperation within the industry
- Organize and participate in public engagement events such as conferences, seminars, expos and exhibitions
- Monitor, develop and promote SU’s contribution to long-term social development in targeted communities through, for example, education and new skills training that sustain and diversify economic activities within the community
- Identify trends or key group interests or concerns and report to management, analyze market perception information and trends in order to identify key risks
Requisites
- Grade 12
- Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communication/Journalism/Marketing/Public Relations Management or Social Development
- 6 years’ experience in area of public relations and community development or related environment
- Sound stakeholder relations experience and dealing with various protocols
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
