Wilderness is recruiting a Chef Trainer, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The Chef Trainer will ensure that the camp chefs are trained on cooking skills, the menu and exceeding guest’s expectations of the food experience
- The Chef Trainer will act as a support to teams and/or individuals in order to fulfil their potential within Wilderness whilst driving the company processes, systems and standards
- Work hand in hand with other trainers and be sure to deliver a consistent approach and voice, in line with Wilderness Standards as set out by the Operations and/or Service and Standards team
Duties
- Ensure that the chefs delivers the minimum standard as per the cycle menu
- Be available for external training travels when required
- Ensure that month-end food statistics and training reports are done and shared with the Food Experience Manager
- Ensure that feedback is provided constantly to the Food Experience Manager on menu items and suggestions on new dishes
- Ensure that chefs are trained on how to use and care for kitchen assets and ensure that kitchens are kept clean, hygienic and free from vermin
- Ensure that the Food & Beverage Managers and chefs keep the fridges and storerooms clean and organized at all times
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is well maintained and that staff are accountable for breakages
- Report to FEM on any kitchen upgrades and equipment requirements
- Monitor guest feedback and ensure that the targets set for the camps are met
Requisites
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree or higher preferred in Culinary Arts
- Minimum of ten (10) years in the food industry
- Solid experience in the high-end, luxury safari hospitality market
- In-depth knowledge in dealing with diverse food experiences and cultures from around the world
- Competencies:
- Ability to work with diverse workforce
- Excellent computer literacy skills
- Proficient spoken and written English, effective communicator
- Attention to details
- High levels of energy and enthusiasm to drive the guest experience
- A desire to improve staff skills and to motivate them constantly
- Ability to manage and to meet set targets
