Swakop Uranium is recruiting an Assistant: Environment Field, to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
- To perform field work and associated activities, using established systems and procedures
Duties
- Prepare and execute field sampling expeditions, including organizing equipment, materials and supplies for field work
- Collate information gathered from a range of samples and carry out data entry into instruments and/or on spread sheets and other documents
- Conduct initial trend analysis of data collected
- Perform rehabilitation/restoration activities as needed, in line with the Company Mine Closure Plan and CBAP objectives
- Report any incidents of SSHERQ non-compliance witnessed around the Husab mine which impact upon the environment
- Ensure that information required is processed timeously and accurately and field sheets filed correctly, as per procedures
- Assist with environmental awareness distribution, campaigns, toolbox talks, discussions, creating and installing signage
- Assist with environmental compliance inspections and issuing of these reports
- Provide troubleshooting assistance for monitoring stations and equipment
- Review respective monitoring stations daily/weekly data
- Liaise with the onsite laboratory for sample delivery and analysis; and receive and file the Chain of Custody documentation
- Ensure that there are always sufficient supplies of sampling materials for the required tasks
- Cleaning and maintenance of weather stations and accessories and other sample equipment as required
- Maintain correct and appropriate signage to monitoring access roads, rehabilitated areas and no go areas
Requisites
- Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects
- 2 years’ experience in environmental management field
- Code 08 Drivers License
- 4x4 off road driving training/experience will be an added advantage
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
