Bank Windhoek is recruiting an Assistant Accountant, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Duties
- Responsible for effective and efficient execution of all day-to-day financial accounting activities as well as the provision of support and assistance to the financial accountants with regards to planning and execution of all financial accounting activities of the department
General Accounting Duties
- Responsible for effective and efficient preparation and processing of all accounting transactions on the accounting systems, e.g. SAP, in accordance with company rules, regulations, accounting principles and policies
- Ensure adherence to all set deadlines related to the processing of all accounting transactions
- Responsible for effective and efficient execution of all payment activities in the department
Reconciliations
- Responsible for effective and efficient preparation of all reconciliations related to debtors, creditors, cheque accounts and general ledgers in accordance with company rules, regulations, accounting principles, policies and within set deadlines
- Resolve all outstanding queries related to reconciliations and make relevant recommendations for remedial action
Administration
- Responsible for day-to-day monitoring, analyzing and escalation of system errors originating from Phoenix nightly transactions
- Ensure effective and efficient completion and updating of all operational checklists in the department at all times and within set deadlines
- Provide administrative support to the financial accountant in relation to internal and external audits
- Attend and timeously resolve Manage Engine calls as assigned
- Identify process improvement areas and make relevant recommendations to management for improving operational excellence in the department
- Responsible for effective and efficient checking and verification of all administrative documents before further processing, e.g. Authority Matrix
- Ensure effective and efficient document management and processing for safe keeping/filing
- Responsible for effective and efficient creation and maintenance of vendor accounts on the SAP system in accordance with company rules, regulations, procedures and policies and within set deadlines
Customer Service
- Ensure that both internal and external customers are treated in a helpful, professional and friendly manner
- Ensure that all day-to-day customer queries are handled in a timeous manner and feedback provided to clients
- Other: Responsible for carrying out any lawful ad hoc instructions as assigned by line management

- Knowledge of the accounting system (SAP) and processing will be an added advantage
- Qualifications:
- BComm Degree in Accounting or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution
- Experience - 3 to 5 years relevant experience, preferably in the financial industry
- Experience in the banking sector will be an added advantage
