MVA Fund is recruiting an Advanced Life Support - Paramedic (ALS) (Patterson C4) X2, to be based in Ndivundu, Namibia.
Description
- 2 Years Contract
- Duty Station: Divundu Emergency Response Base
- The successful candidate will carry out quality patient care through rendering pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency medical care and rescue services, engage relevant stakeholders to ensure that operational efficiencies and on-scene management is coordinated to improve patient outcomes, safeguard optimal base management and provide Continuous Professional Development training
Duties
- Key Performance Areas:
- Respond and attend to all emergencies (medical and trauma) without delay
- Provide quality service delivery by adhering to evidence-based patient management
- Ensure effective inter-hospital transfers in consultation with the Head: Emergency and medical personnel
- Liaise with doctors/hospital case managers, Nampol, fire department and other medical personnel to ensure smooth case
management and clinical decision-making
- Ensure proper patient hand over, including a fully accurate Patient Report Form
- Operate within the scope of practice set out by the Health Professional Council of Namibia (HPCNA)
- Maintain operational and functional readiness of response vehicle and medical equipment to ensure effective operation
- Liaise with the MVA Fund Emergency Call Centre to provide crash information
- Advice and guide Emergency Care Practitioners on clinical decision
- Assist and create a training environment to develop effective and efficient patient care
Requisites
- Competencies and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor of Emergency Medical Care or National Diploma in Emergency Medical Care
- Minimum of two (2) years working experience as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic
- Valid Code C1E driver’s License with valid Public Drivers Permit
(PDP). Registered with the Namibian Health Professions Council. Knowledge of emergency management plan
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret difficult and complex patient management and personnel situations
- Ability to work efficiently in high-demand and fast-paced environment
