Santam is recruiting an Accounts Officer, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The financial accountant will assist in the financial, statutory and regulatory reporting function of Santam Namibia, including dealing with technical accounting matters and liaising with Group Finance in terms of various ad-hoc financial reporting requirements
- This function encompasses both externally directed financial reporting to shareholders and the Board as well as internally focussed reporting with regards to management reports
- The objective will be the production of timeous and accurate management reports, statutory financial statements, and reports on the overall financial results for Santam Namibia
Duties
- Sound management of the on-going financial controls, information systems, processes, accounting and reporting function
- Effectively manage, guide and motivate a large finance department and contribute to a positive team spirit in order to achieve business and strategic objectives
- Manage cost efficiency and processes
- Regulatory reporting and compliance
- Budget compilation and review
- Annual Financial Statements preparation
- Quarterly financial reporting to board and regulator
- External audit coordination and internal audit overview
- Monthly financial reporting to management
- Working closely with the Financial Manager, Company Secretary and CFO, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements such as the Companies Act, Tax acts and Namibian legal requirements
- Ensuring compliance with IFRS17
- Investment management and strategy
- Responsibility to ensure an electronic filing system is in place and maintained
Requisites

- Qualifications and Experience:
- BCOM or similar essential, CA or CIMA will get preference
- Individuals currently busy with ICAN Board exams also encouraged to apply
- Experience in financial management reporting
- Experience in an insurance environment recommended, but not essential
- 1-2 years post article experience either in an audit firm or in commerce

- Knowledge of and experience with Hyperion Financial Management would be highly recommended
